New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas is a celebration like no other. The city transforms into a massive street party with fireworks launched from rooftops, world-class dining, live entertainment, and thousands of people ready to welcome the new year together. Josh and I had always talked about spending New Year’s Eve on The Strip, and last year we finally made it happen.

We wanted the perfect mix of excitement and comfort, so we split our stay between two iconic hotels: The Cosmopolitan and Caesars Palace. Both offered views of the Bellagio Fountains. In between, we explored immersive art, enjoyed incredible meals, and soaked in the electric atmosphere of Las Vegas New Year’s Eve.

The Strip shuts down completely to traffic and becomes one giant pedestrian zone. Our trip began at The Cosmopolitan, one of the best hotels for New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas thanks to its unbeatable location and views. We booked a balcony room overlooking the Bellagio Fountains, which gave us a front-row seat to the water shows set to music.

Having a balcony view during New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas changes everything. You can watch the fountains, see the crowd gather on The Strip, and later enjoy the fireworks without dealing with the cold or the crowds.

Before the big night, we visited the Arte Museum, an interactive digital art experience that blends light, sound, and motion into stunning visual displays. Wandering through glowing landscapes and cascading digital waterfalls felt like stepping into another world.

Dinner at Giada’s: A Strip-Side Italian Celebration

For our first dinner, we headed to Giada’s at The Cromwell (soon to be The Vanderpump Hotel), where the menu is just as dazzling as the view. The orzo meatballs and lemon spaghetti were standouts, and I highly recommend ending with the cookie sampler to go. It is perfect for late-night snacking while you watch the fountains from your room.

Vegas is full of surprises, and Swingers Crazy Golf at Mandalay Bay was one of them. This over-the-top mini golf course is filled with whimsical decor, themed holes, and a lively atmosphere. If you are spending a few days in the city, it is a fun break from casinos and a great choice for groups.

Dinner at Beauty & Essex: A Flavor We Could Not Forget

Beauty & Essex was a must-do for one reason: the grilled cheese soup dumplings we first discovered in Los Angeles. They were just as incredible as we remembered. We paired them with other small plates for a relaxed, shareable meal.

If you want something different from the traditional New Year’s Eve dinner in Las Vegas, this style of small-plate dining is perfect.

New Year’s Eve at Caesars Palace: Fireworks Perfection

After our stay at The Cosmopolitan, we moved to Caesars Palace and again booked a room with a view of the Bellagio Fountains. Changing hotels gave us a fresh perspective and put us right in the heart of the action for New Year’s Eve.

We started the evening with a feast at Din Tai Fung over at Aria, famous for its xiao long bao (soup dumplings). This has become a tradition for us. Whenever there is a Din Tai Fung (or any recommended soup dumplings, for that matter) in a city we visit, we make it part of our trip.

By 6 p.m., The Strip was completely closed to cars and turned into one giant street party. Live music, outdoor bars, and a sea of people in festive outfits filled the streets.

While we enjoyed walking through the excitement earlier in the evening, we decided to watch the Las Vegas New Year’s Eve fireworks from our room. It was the best of both worlds. We experienced the energy of the moment but had a peaceful, private space to enjoy midnight.

At midnight, synchronized fireworks were launched from multiple casino rooftops, creating a skyline filled with color. From our room at Caesars Palace, we could see the entire show, with the Bellagio Fountains reflecting every burst of light.

If you are wondering where to watch New Year’s Eve fireworks in Las Vegas, a balcony view is hard to beat, but our room at Caesars was a great alternative. If you’re not getting room comps, it will be a splurge, but it turns the night into something unforgettable.

Make your dinner reservations months ahead, especially for Strip restaurants.
