Crock Pot Oatmeal

I’ve never been a big fan of oatmeal, but I thought I should at least try it because lots and lots of fellow food bloggers really seem to like this recipe.  The verdict: good stuff, but the recipe makes a LOT.  We’re having it 4 times this week and I’m sure it will become a staple in the mornings.  It’s sooooo easy!

Crock Pot Oatmeal Makes 4 servings – 201 calories each (Adapted from Southern Plate (http://www.southernplate.com) – July 31, 2008)


Ingredients

2 Cups old fashioned or steel cut oats 4 cups milk (you can substitute water for this or use half milk, half water) 1 cup water Dash of salt 4 tablespoons raisins 8 tablespoons chopped apples 4 teaspoons brown sugar

Preparation

Grease inside of crock pot.  Add all ingredients to crock pot.  Prepare toppings (chocolate chips, brown sugar/cinnamon, fruit, etc. in individual bowls.  Cover and cook on low overnight (8-9 hours).
