Oven BBQ Brisket

This is my mom’s famous BBQ Brisket recipe.  Every time she makes it, people rave on and on about it.  It’s usually something that she doesn’t make very often but it’s a staple at our 4th of July parties.  This year, I asked her to make it for our family Christmas Dinner at our house as well.

This is the second time I think I’ve made her brisket and it’s kind of a fool-proof recipe.  I think the only thing that someone might be able to mess up is the cooking time.  I think I may have cooked ours a little bit too long, but it turned out really well and we both enjoyed it thoroughly.

Oven BBQ Brisket Makes 8 servings – 270 calories per serving

Ingredients 1 (4-5 lb) beef brisket 1/2 tsp onion salt

1/2 tsp celery salt 1/4 tsp garlic powder

2 Tbsp liquid smoke  3/4 c. barbecue sauce

1/4 c. plus 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Preparation

Sprinkle beef with salt and garlic powder; place in a shallow baking dish.  Pour liquid smoke and Worcestershire sauce over meat, and cover with foil.  Refrigerate several hours or overnight, turning once.

Bake covered at 300 degrees for 4 – 4 1/2 hours or until tender.  Pour commercial barbecue sauce over beef and bake uncovered, an additional 30 minutes.
